• Question: Why does our voice turn high when we inhale Helium?

      The speed of sound in helium is 3 times higher than that in normal air (which is mostly nitrogen and oxygen). This means that the frequency that our vocal chords vibrate at is higher, causing the pitch of our voice to go up. Who says the universe doesn’t have a sense of humour?
