Volcanoes erupt for a bunch of reasons, sometimes they get stirred up by new magma comng in from the bottom, sometimes there is a landslide and it makes the pressue less (think about taking the top of a saucepan that has hot water in it – all the steam escapes). The weather probably doesn’t affect the volcano that much, sometimes lots of rainfall can collect inside a crater (the pit at the top) and that puts more pressure on. But, sometimes the weather can be the last straw – and just a tiiiiny change in the pressure can trigger a chain reaction that ends in a big eruption. It’s all possible, but trying to work out how possible and how it actually happens is what people are working on right now. It’s going to take us a while….!
