Socialisation! This is where people learn social roles when they’re young. Girls are told that they like pink when they’re very young, and boys blue. But 100 years ago it was the other way around. There’s no good reason why girls and boys should like different things, we’re basically the same apart from a few different bits. I’m male, but I like baking, cute animals, dancing and playing the harp! I also like shooting things and beer. So don’t let people you can’t do something because of your gender! Except, well, boys can’t give birth. Unless they’re a seahorse, I suppose.

Yes – social conditioning – it’s like anything that is “in fashion”: people seem to like things either because they were conditioned to like things from a young age, or just because other people like things. I say find your own things you like, and if that is what other people like too – so be it!

Definitely just social stuff. From the moment a baby is born it either sees a majority of pink or blue.

But did you know – pink used to be considered a very manly colour, since it was a derivative from red, which is vibrant and energetic! It used to be pink for boys and blue for girls!
