When you smell the particles do go up your nose yes and react with cells on the inside of your nose. Which means if you can smell someone passing wind, there is poo particles in your nose!!

Yes that’s right – you can small all the perfume off someone if you sniff long enough! Smell is particles hitting the smell receptors in our nose and some in our mouth 🙂

Yep – perfume evaporates very slowly, so you can smell it. This is true of all things that smell. People can smell fairly small quantities of particles in the air, but our sense of smell isn’t the best – dogs can detect up to a hundred million times fainter smells! This is why we use sniffer dogs to locate things like bombs or drugs – they can detect even very faint smells that humans could never hope to find.
