I don’t know of any abnormal volcano’s. I do know of one where the top of the volcano is underground and about 160 miles big. It’s one of the biggest volcano’s in the world, called a supervolcano. It’s under yellowstone national park in America.

It’s a little weird, because the volcano doesn’t move but the continents on top of it do so the volcano slowly changes place. A few million years ago the volcano was under Idaho, which is why Idaho has such good soil for farming now.

Volcanoes only happen at the surface – it’s part of their definition. The hot rocks under Yellowstone have produced a series of volcanoes over time. The hot rocks are still there, and the volcanoes with magma (liquid rock) inside are still hot too – but no-one really knows when lava will come out again….!
The biggest volcano is the world right now is Hawaii :), it’s built itself up all the way from the sea floor, and is so heavy the sea floor bends underneath it!
There is one volcano on earth that is easily the most abnormal. It’s called Ol Doinyo Lengai, and it’s in Tanzania. Most volcanoes are made from glassy rocks, full of silica, like in your windows. This volcano is made from something called carbonate, which is more like sea shells!! check out this video, whic is awesome

That lava is about 500-600 degress – you have to be very careful it doesn’t splash you – it’s not like water even though it looks like dirty water!
