A conscience is your idea of what’s right and what’s wrong. Is mostly based on what we are taught is right, but is also based on human behavior as a species. It’s different from consciousness, which is our feeling of awareness. We don’t know why consciousness happens – one idea is that it’s a way for us to process information and learn from it.

Conscience is weird, and has sparked a lot of debate too especially amongst religious people and atheists.

I mean, you know that it is wrong to kill someone – but why? You were probably taught it sometime during growing up, but if you grew up alone on an island would you have the same feeling?
