• Question: There is active transport mechanisms in plants, so that they can take in nitrogen from areas of low concentration to high concentration, but is there an active transport mechanism in our body?

      Sure – for example, in the kidneys, active transport is used to remove urea from the blood to the kidneys, where it’s passed to the bladder so you can pee it out.

      And glucose (sugar) from inside your intestine into your blood so you can take it to your cells for energy. This is important because, well, food 🙂
