It can be sometimes. Some science needs to be done over and over to make sure it is correct, and doing repetitive work can be tedious. For the most part its fun though – it helps to do a little bit of the tedious stuff each day, so it doesn’t need to be done all at once. (I recommend this trick for homework – do a bit each day so it doesn’t grow huge!)

Ha, good tip Matt, I think I will try that!

Admin-type stuff is tedious. Nobody likes doing paperwork (well some people do but they are just weird).

Also waiting for my code to finish compiling, or running or downloading the data can take a while, but of course there are other things to do in the meantime: http://xkcd.com/303/ 🙂

Like Matt and Claire said, paperwork is really boring. Also, I have to run a lot of something called chromatography columns which I can only describe as like watching paint dry. But apart from that, no because I tend to be doing different things all the time.

It has tedious parts – writing up reports, filling in paperwork – but most of it is pretty interesting. It can be hard, but that’s part of the fun – if things are too easy, they get boring fast!
