Yes, hypnosis is real! People who are hypnotised focus on one thing very intently, can concentrate a lot and are more suggestible (in other words, will do what you tell them more easily). Research suggests that hypnotised people are not asleep, but are focusing so intently that they appear not to notice things around them. However, it’s still not understood very well why it happens.
