• Question: if you did go into computer programing, would you go into gaming programing? If so what would you work on?

      Maybe! I do like making games, but it’s hard work making a good one because you have to keep trying out new ideas – there’s no way to know beforehand if something will be fun or not. Game programming is also popular, so it’s hard to find a good job in. There are lots of interesting programming jobs out there, though – I did some work as a student writing a program that took sonar data and showed people what the seabed looked like. You could see sunken ships, sand waves, etc. This used some game programming techniques – I wrote something that allowed you to fly around the sea bed in 3D like a videogame, which helped people figure out what the sea bed looked like from different angles. People used it to find things underwater, or look for dangerous rocks for ships passing, or to find things under the sea bed.
