I work around 37hrs a week on my projects and a little extra time sometimes (normally in the evenings) on outreach projects such as this or preparing talks for schools.

I normally work normal working hours (9-5, or more like 10-6 as it avoids the worst traffic). My computer simulations take millions of hours (i.e. months on hundreds of computers). And it normally takes months to finish a project, at least.

      Too many, and not enough!

I work 9-6 during the day, and then usually a couple of hours each night. Sometimes I need to do stuff on the weekends as well. It feels like a lot, but at the same time I feel like I’m forever trying to catch up and I’m always behind!

I wish I didn’t need to sleep though. Then I bet I could get everything I want done!

It depends on if I’m in the field (outside on a volcano) or in the office. When I’m in the field sometimes I work all the daylight hours. This is a problem in Iceland though – right now it is light about 23 hours a day!!! In the office a normal week will be 8-4:30 or so. Sometimes a bit more either at the office or at home, but I try hard to fit lots of things into every day so this doesn’t happen. It doesn’t always work…!
