So just to clarify – our galaxy is called the Milky Way, not the Solar System! The Solar system is the collection of planets and rocks around our Sun – the Milky Way is a collection of hundreds of billions of stars. Many of these stars have their own solar systems. The Milky Way galaxy is three billion times bigger than the Solar System, too.

But in a way, yes – there are billions of galaxies, some of them bigger than the Milky Way, made by lots of galaxies colliding together, some smaller than our Milky Way, and some about the same size. The Andromeda galaxy is about the same size as our Milky Way, and is right next door – if it’s a super dark night away from big cities, you can see if it you know where to look.

Also, in some ways, solar systems are made in similar ways to galaxies – gas collects into a disk, which forms spirals, which collapse due to gravity. They’re different things, but the basic way galaxies and solar systems are made has similarities. Hope this helps!
