If you watch too much TV, sure. If you don’t exercise, you can get fat, which puts more stress on your heart, and in extreme cases can cause diseases like diabetes or can cause heart attacks in later life. So watching TV doesn’t shorten your life unless you watch TV instead of exercising, too.

Maybe it also depends on what you watch.. If you’re only watching depressing movies, or horrible news stories, I guess that could have an affect on you too (mentally)

It’s like most things – done in moderation it’s ok. TV can teach us things, entertain us and make us think in ways we might not, so those things are good. However, too much TV can take time away from doing other important and healthy things in life, and some things that are on TV are gross, horrible or just plain irritating, so I guess you have to pick and choose carefully!
